BArley
Barley grain, as well as wheat grain and similar crops, belongs to the cereal family.

Barley and wheat occupy the first positions in the popularity of cereal crops in our country.

Barley is used as a food, technical and fodder crop.
Interesting facts
01
Annually grow about 141 million tons of barley in the world, which cover 46.9 million hectares.
Interesting facts
02
Among all cereals, plants are endowed with the shortest growing season of approximately 60-120 days. For this reason, the main areas of this plant are located high in the mountains or northern regions of the area.

03
In folk medicine, barley grains help to cope with inflammatory diseases of the stomach and intestines as a prophylactic for the gastrointestinal tract.
TECHNICAL CHARACTERISTICS
Barley grain has many useful properties, as it contains extremely valuable components: vitamin A, B, D, minerals (iodine, manganese, copper, iron, calcium, etc.), fiber, carbohydrates, protein. Having familiarized ourselves with a similar list of useful components contained in barley grain, we can say with confidence that this crop is simply a source of all useful and vital elements.
TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Barley must be healthy, without self-heating and heat damage during drying; have a normal smell inherent in healthy grain (without musty, malty, moldy, foreign odors), normal color inherent in healthy grain of this class; pest infestation of grain stocks is not allowed, except for tick infestation not higher than 1 degree.

  • Malting barley is divided into 2 classes depending on its characteristics in accordance with the requirements indicated in the table.

  • If the quality standards of barley do not meet at least one of the indicators, it is transferred to the lower class.

  • By agreement of the procurement organization and the supplier, grain moisture content and the content of impurities in barley are higher than the maximum norms for the possibility of bringing such grain by the procurement organization to the conditions indicated in the table.
Common barley is very rich in vitamins and healthy substances. The grain of this plant contains about 16% proteins, up to 75% carbohydrates, almost 10% fiber, 3.5% fat, as well as vitamins B, D, E, enzymes, carotene and ash compounds. Barley grain is needed for the preparation of flour, cereal products (pearl and barley groats).
* Barley prepared for export must be healthy, free from pests of grain stocks, have a normal smell and color, and meet the requirements set out in the table. Requirements for the quality of barley for other indicators are established in the agreement (contract) between the supplier and the buyer.

Malting barley is not a special crop, but a form of processing of barley that allows obtaining grain with desired characteristics. The main difference between malting barley and regular barley is the protein content of the grain. According to GOST, it should be no more than 12%.
* Barley prepared for export must be healthy, free from pests of grain stocks, have a normal smell and color, and meet the requirements set out in the table. Requirements for the quality of barley for other indicators are established in the agreement (contract) between the supplier and the buyer.
